Plan Purcellville

About This Project

Purcellville is a small town in western Loudoun County that has had dramatic growth over the last two decades growing from just 2,000 people to nearly 10,000. The town selected McBride Dale Clarion to prepare a grassroots plan to protect the small town rural character in the face of continued growth pressures. The process involved 8 rounds of public workshops and events and explored alternative approaches and land use scenarios to achieve the town’s vision. The major focus is on protection of rural economics and local businesses and keeping the small town character while maintaining fiscal balance. Ms. Crow has made extensive use of online participation and interactive exercises conducted in open house and workshop formats to assist town staff in the update of the Comprehensive Plan. The project is in the final review phase and should be adopted in 2020.
